Smart is a premium automobile brand originally developed by MCC (Micro Compact Car). Founded in 1994, it covers a series of microcars co-created by Mercedes-Benz and the Swiss watchmaker Swatch. In 2000, MCC officially adopted "Smart" as the brand name. In 2019, the global joint venture company Smart Automobile was officially established, with Mercedes-Benz and Geely Automobile Group each holding a 50% stake.
