With up to 96 CPU cores and custom thermals, our workstations have full command over CPU-intensive workloads. Follow the instructions below and see how your computer measures up to the thermal-driven might of a Thelio workstation.
Much of the design process is bogged down from waiting for your design program to, as top-notch designers say, “Just finish already!” But with a Thelio workstation, you can stay focused on modifying your image, rather than your schedule. Follow these steps to apply a circular motion blur to a large image and see how System76 can help restore your sanity.
1. Download the image ``` wget https://cdn.esahubble.org/archives/images/large/heic1206a.jpg ```
2. Install GIMP and the Clocks App
``` sudo apt install gimp gnome-clocks ```
3. Open the Clocks app to use as a stopwatch 4. Open the heic1206a.jpg image in GIMP 5. Click the Convert button when prompted 6. Click Filters > Blur > Circular Motion Blur 7. Click Okay
How would your TODO column look having a Thelio workstation handy? Surprise testers with an early alpha, and treat users to an impressive debut of your intuitive new software tool. Compile the Linux kernel on your own machine and compare the results. We’ve included the steps to do so.
1. Download dependencies ``` sudo apt-get install libncurses-dev flex bison openssl libssl-dev dkms libelf-dev libudev-dev libpci-dev libiberty-dev autoconf ```
2. Download the kernel source ``` wget https://cdn.kernel.org/pub/linux/kernel/v5.x/linux-5.5.1.tar.xz ```
3. Untar the archive and change into the kernel directory ``` tar xvf linux-5.5.1.tar.xz && cd linux-5.5.1/ ```
4. Configure ``` make defconfig ```
5. And compile! ``` time make -j $(nproc) ```
You can watch the progress bar for your project render all you want, but it won't get any faster without a significant upgrade. Our thermal engineering protects your system from heat buildup and prevent your components from slowing down. With a Thelio workstation, your progress bar may finally feel like it's making progress. Replicate these steps on your own computer to see how your timeline can improve.
1. Download dependencies ``` sudo apt install php-cli php-common php-xml php8.1-cli php8.1-common php8.1-readline php8.1-xml ```
2. Download the Phoronix Text Suite ``` wget http://phoronix-test-suite.com/releases/repo/pts.debian/files/phoronix-test-suite_10.8.4_all.deb ```
3. Install the Test Suite ``` sudo dpkg -i phoronix-test-suite_10.8.4_all.deb ```
4. Install the Blender Benchmark ``` phoronix-test-suite install blender ```
5. Run the Blender Benchmark ``` phoronix-test-suite benchmark blender ```
6. Choose the Classroom Scene Benchmark 7. Choose CPU-only 8. Choose "n" when prompted save the results 9. Re-enable the GNOME lock screen ``` gsettings reset org.gnome.desktop.lockdown disable-lock-screen ```
